PureSpectrum is excited to announce the launch of S2S Secure to ensure data integrity and mitigate survey fraud. This new technology will add another layer to PureSpectrum’s industry-leading respondent-level quality solutions.

S2S Secure redefines the way respondents’ survey completions are authenticated by leveraging a secure Server-to-Server (S2S) API integration. Unlike traditional methods relying on redirect links, S2S Secure ensures that survey completions are validated directly through API calls. This prevents fraudulent activities such as ghost completes, thereby maintaining the integrity of survey data.

Ghost completes have a significant impact on the market research industry as a whole. From a buyer’s perspective, ghost completes reduce conversions from suppliers, impacting the buyer’s reputation and in turn, the pricing they get over time from suppliers. Sample providers are particularly at risk for wild fluctuations in transactions when secure links are not used.

“A common occurrence is a large reversal of completes at the end of a month, impacting our accounting process and planning. In some cases we have already credited or paid respondents for their time” explained Mark Menig, Chief Product Officer at PureSpectrum.

The lack of link security affects payments to respondents, payments from buyers and accurate field reporting. Large numbers of ghost completes interrupt operations which are pivotal to maintaining a healthy ecosystem. Having a secure transaction process is a great step forward in eliminating the operational disruptions caused by ghost completes. It is critical that buyers engage in ensuring this secure connection, as it will progressively impact a buyer’s reputation and performance in the market. This results in a higher number of reconciliations and reduced conversion rates which ultimately impacts price and delivery.

“Ghost completes pose a significant challenge for our industry in maintaining data accuracy and reliability,” says Menig “With S2S Secure, our clients can expect heightened security measures that safeguard against fraudulent activities, ensuring that each survey completion accurately reflects genuine respondent interactions.”

As a part of our mission to continue to deliver confidence to our clients, we have initially partnered with two industry-leading platforms, with more integrations to come. The S2S Secure API will give clients who utilize Forsta Surveys (previously Decipher) and soon Qualtrics users increased security. This new integration will improve ease of fielding, helping to eliminate ghost completes and link jumpers in real-time, leading to higher quality respondents.

“S2S brings stakeholders together in a way not currently seen in the industry. By creating a secure connection with the sample provider in Forsta Surveys, it is simple and efficient to safeguard the integrity of data while optimizing resource utilization.” said Kyle Ferguson, CEO of Forsta.

Deep-seated in PureSpectrum’s ethos is the commitment to creating industry-leading data quality solutions. As quality data continues to plague the insights ecosystem, we believe that all stakeholders such as suppliers, respondents, marketplaces, survey tools, buyers have a responsibility to address this ongoing issue, and need to work together to do so. The implementation of S2S Secure is another innovative technology solution to help mitigate quality issues within the market research ecosystem. “With our clients adopting advanced security measures such as S2S Secure, we can collectively combat survey fraud and enhance the overall data quality within our ecosystem”, says Menig “This technology streamlines operational efficiencies for our clients and sets a benchmark for industry-wide practices.”

“As the industry integrates more robust security protocols, such as S2S Secure, the entire market research community benefits from more consistent, accurate, and reliable data, ultimately fostering a healthier and more trustworthy research environment,” says Todd Myers, Chief Operations Officer at PureSpectrum.
