It started as an office decor idea and became an art installment that transformed the PureSpectrum headquarters. This striking design tied everything in our new office space together and quickly became centric to our brand and company feel. Artist Kevin Strawn designed, cut and installed “FullSpectrum,” a monumental 15-foot acrylic installation custom designed for PureSpectrum.

– The Process –

In two weeks and one visit to the office, Kevin went from ideation to finished product, just in time for the company’s 2020 North American Kick Off. Originally designed in Illustrator, each piece was laser cut from custom-colored acrylic, numbered, and mounted to the wall. In the design process, each piece was assigned a unique color and number.

After the design was finalized, Kevin purchased 15, 2’x4’ sheets of ⅛ inch acrylic in the custom PureSpectrum colors and worked to cut all of the shapes individually. He also purchased the mounting hardware for the installation.

After cutting the shapes, he switched gears to thinking through the installation process. Kevin prepped a map that outlined the mounting holes and the exact placement of each piece.

 – Installation Day –

On Sunday February 9th at 12 pm, Kevin began the installation at PureSpectrum HQ. After taping up the guide map, he went to work drilling into the drywall and affixing the mounting hardware.

It took several hours until all of the mounts were in place. The guide map was then torn away, and the acrylic was ready to be peeled and mounted. The first piece went up close to 9 pm that night.

– The Finished Product –

After plenty of sleepless nights preparing the pieces and 14 hours of tireless work to install it, Kevin completed the art piece of 68 shapes and 153 screws at 5 am the next morning, February 10th.

“The whole process has been an amazing experience, from the initial design to tightening up the last screw on the wall, I enjoyed every second of it,” Kevin said. “I was also excited to hear all the positive feedback I got from the PureSpectrum staff about it, inspiring me to continue doing my best work for years to come.”

His design has inspired material designs and marketing initiatives for the greater company.

“The quality of our HQ office is a big part of who we are as a team and as a company. When the team presented the art installation proposal, I knew that this would be something that would take our office experience to the next level,” Founder and CEO Michael McCrary said. “I’m not sure how long it will take before it becomes “normal” when I walk through the space, but until then, I’ll be smiling from ear to ear.”

“THE FULLSPECTRUM

The Flow of data is constant, unending, and turbulent. It is difficult to decipher, analyze, and understand. It moves at the speed of light, spanning continents in mere seconds, and flowing like the roaring waves of the ocean. However, amidst this hurricane of information, there is beauty, elegance, and simplicity just waiting to be seen. In the right hands, this cyclone can be articulated and simplified, projecting it’s FullSpectrum of potential upon those who need it most.

Those hands are PURESPECTRUM”
